Buttermilk Biscuits 😋

Ingredients:
• 2 cups of all-purpose flour, with additional for dusting
• 1 tablespoon of baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
• 1 teaspoon of sugar
• 1 teaspoon of salt
• 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter, very cold
• 1 cup of buttermilk, cold
Instructions:
1. I’ll start by preheating the oven to 425°F (220°C) and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a spacious mixing bowl, I’ll whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
3. I’ll grate the very cold butter into the flour mixture using a box grater. I’ll ensure all butter pieces are coated with flour, then I’ll use my fingertips to rub the butter into the flour until the mixture takes on a coarse crumb texture.
4. Creating a well in the center of the flour mixture, I’ll pour in the cold buttermilk. Stirring with a spoon, I’ll continue until the dough starts to come together.
5. Turning out the dough onto a floured surface, I’ll gently fold the dough over itself 4 or 5 times to form layers.
6. Pressing the dough into a round about 1 inch thick, I’ll use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits. Pressing down without twisting, I’ll maintain straight edges.
7. Arranging the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, I’ll ensure they touch each other to promote even rising.
8. I’ll brush the tops of the biscuits with a bit of buttermilk for a golden brown finish.
9. Baking for approximately 15 minutes or until the biscuits achieve a golden brown top, I’ll then take them out of the oven and allow a brief cooling period on a wire rack.
10. Now, I can serve the warm buttermilk biscuits with butter, honey, jam, or my preferred gravy. Enjoy these homemade delights!🤤
