Mashed Potato and Meat Casserole Recipe

Instructions:
Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
Prepare the Meat Layer:
In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and translucent.
Add the ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
Stir in the tomato paste, tomato sauce, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
Assemble the Casserole:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a large baking dish, spread half of the mashed potatoes evenly on the bottom.
Add the meat mixture on top of the mashed potatoes, spreading it out evenly.
Layer the remaining mashed potatoes over the meat mixture.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top.
Bake the Casserole:
Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
If you like a crispy top, switch the oven to broil for the last 2-3 minutes, but watch carefully to prevent burning.
Serve:
Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Cut into portions and serve hot. Enjoy!
Tips:
You can customize this dish by adding vegetables like carrots, peas, or corn to the meat mixture for added flavor and nutrition.
Feel free to use different types of cheese based on your preference.

Enjoy this comforting and hearty meal!
