Strawberry Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for the strawberries)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (for the base)
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped out
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Strawberries:

  • In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with 1/2 cup of sugar.
  • Let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes until the strawberries release their juices.
  • Use a blender or food processor to puree the strawberries until smooth. Set aside.
